According to weekend news paper 'Sunday Times' , Sri Lanka's premier fast bowler in limited overs formats Lasith Malinga has refused to sign Sri Lanka cricket's central contract. In the history of Sri Lanka cricket, Malinga is the 1st player to refuse to give his service to nation. In the last year (2011) he retired from Test cricket, when Dulip Mendis (who was the chief selector at that time) ask players to return back from the IPL to get ready to Test series in England under a new captain (T.M. Dilshan). His excuse was due to his knee injury he can't play the longer format of the game any more. As 'Sunday Times' reports, Malinga’s agent Charlie Austin said that the player refused to sign the contract because he is not impressed with the figure offered to him. As a result of Malinga's retirement from Test cricket, he can get only 40% of the amount, SLC offered him last year (100,000 US$). In a statistical look, in the last year (22 - 04 -2011 to 22- 04 - 2012) Sri Lanka has played 14 Test matches , 35 ODIs & 4 T20Is. That means a player who is playing all formats of the game have to play 109 days of cricket. While Malinga who has retired from Test cricket has to play only 39 days. That is 35.78 %. However this doesn't mean we won't see Malinga playing again for Sri Lanka unless SLC take some serious decision. But Malinga can choose what are the matches he is going to represent Sri Lanka if selectors are going to select him any more. source :http://www.cricturf.com/newsbox/latest/4136-malinga-contract.html :no::no::no::no::no::no::no::no::no: mekata sampurna wagakiwayutthe kawada? nikanyannaepa bump ekakwathdanna
