President MR fired 3 of his top ranked ministers on Friday. It’s now yesterday’s news. I’m not surprised to see the fate of Anura, because it was written in his horoscope. He’s born to be in the opposition, unlike his Father, Mother and the Sister. So, let’s not waste our time by talking about the political joker of Horagolla, and focus on Mangala Sripathi. Mangala Sripathi was in the front operation in Mahinda’s presidential campaign. In fact, it was Mangala who lobbied to get the support of JVP despite the resistance by then party leader CBK, and the PM candidate Anura. Mangala did his best to bring Mahinda to presidency, with one hidden agenda. To become the PM and hence next (in 2017) presidential candidate of SLFP. Yes, it’s true. Mangala is not the type of politician who wish to end his career with a ministerial post. He’s got much long focused political goals of becoming a president one day.( In fact he’s one of 3 such politicians in the scene today along with SB, and Milimda M) How ever, Mangala had to give up his hope of becoming the PM, when people like DM Dissanayaka, obstruct his way. He made a pact with president MR, to give away the PM post to Ratnasiri W, for the first Cabinet, and take over the PM post in the second cabinet of the president, when things are cooled down with DM Dissanayake. But things were different when the second cabinet of MR were announced. A set of cross over MP’s from UNP took the centre stage of the second “mega” cabinet of MR, and JVP’s love affair with MR has come to an end. (So, Mangala was heart broken Kapuwa) Mangala missed the PM post for the second time, and was not happy with the president. Every one know what happened thereafter, and now Mangala is just another Member of Parliament of SLFP. I’m surprised to see, Mangala walked into this trouble, know the man’s good sense of politics. Until this one, Mangala never made such a foolish political decisions. If he really wanted to be the presidential candidate in 2017, he should have sticked to the MR’s side but not cross over to CBK camp of SLFP. Because, compared to CBK, Mahinda still have a better recognition among the general public. How ever, I always watch closely the political moves of Mangala very closely. (And Milinda’s, and SB Disanayake’s as well. These are 3 people who could become future presidents of Sri Lanka) SB crossed over to UNP when he realized there’s too much of competition for the party leadership in SLFP. Now he’s really positioned to become a top ranked leader in UNP, after Karu’s cross over. Milinda has lot of years ahead of him 9And lot of money to spend). And mangala was the one who seriously getting ready to become a future president. But with this situation, he’s have a major set back compared to the other two. Did President Mahinda do the same thing to Mangala, what Prmadasa did to Lalith Gamini? Giving the Prime Ministership to DB, and creating “Impatience” in the minds of Lalith & Gamini!!! All Politicians are cunning. President MR is a master politician. Just as much as JR & Premadasa.
