I would say , we can't deny their report but its bit hypothetical , gravitas is famous for that

They were, and still but not like before, it was shattered when US offer F16s to Pakistan Air Force, then IAF got Eurofighter typhoon as a counter deal, yet Pakistan plays the role of a whore, They maintain good terms with US, Russia and China,

Basically its a political cocktail made by Brits when they were leaving the Indian subcontinent, but from my personal point of view, Brits did a good job otherwise our south Asian region would have been ruled by Muslims, (Pakistan + Bangaladesh + Maldives + indian muslims outnumber Hindus all together)
