In addition to  famously laying foundation for classical mechanics, realizing the  mathematics available to him at that time was not sufficient for his  work in physics, he independently developed Calculus and Numerical  methods. He's all over physics: optics, heat, gravity, where ever  you look you see contributions from Newton. What he achieved during his  lifetime quite unbelievable and extraordinary.
