The protest organized by the UNP against the assault on its Pradeshiya Sabha member met with a counter protest led by Minister Mervyn Silva in Kelaniya today. It is reported that there was tension when the two protests came together near the Kelaniya Pradeshiya Sabha Office. Police had stepped in to disperse the crowds. A few stone and rotten eggs had been thrown during the face-off.
