Jayasinghe, a supporter of the JVP, at about 11.00 p.m. last night, assaulted the people in the shop, shot at them and damaged the shop and motor bicycles parked at the shop states the media unit of the JVP.According to JVP media unit activists of the JVP frequent the relevant shop. About 30 minutes before Mervin Silva and his thugs broke into the shop the Pradeshiya Sabha member of UPFA Upali Karunaratne had come to the shop and given a call from there.The gang of thugs of about twenty had come in three vehicles belonging to Mervin Silva with the lights switched off, broke into the shop and shot at the JVP supporter who had narrowly escaped death. However, the bullet had pierced a petrol tank of a motor bike parked bursting it. The minister and the thugs had shot at other JVP supporters who had been there and they had to save their lives with the greatest difficulty.Later Mervin and the thugs had smashed the furniture and other goods in the shop, warned the JVP supporters not to do any political work for the JVP and engage in any propaganda work saying they would be shot at like dogs in the streets.The incident has been complained to Aralagangwila Police and entered in Pages 203/22 in election complaint book states Media unit of the JVP</blockquote>
