Newly appointed Deputy Media Minister Mervyn Silva last week told The Sunday Leader that he is compelled to sell this Mitsubishi Montero vehicle for Rs. 70 lakhs to pay costs incurred for his election campaign. Silva said that he was unable to give an exact figure of the debt accrued by him during the election campaign but added that eight acres of land belonging to his wife was also sold to pay his dues.
