SLPA changes rule for notorious minister
The Sri Lanka Ports Authority has changed its tender procedure to appease a government minister, who is notorious for attacks on journalists, and his supporters to earn millions, ‘Ravaya’ reports.
In this illegal act, the SLPA has not mentioned the Customs estimated value of 65 items of tender no: 313 that go under the hammer on August 16th, the newspaper says.
Top officials of the institution said on condition of anonymity that it was no secret that the group of thugs of this minister was interfering with SLPA’s auctions.
However, this time, other bidders at the auction are at a clear disadvantage due to the absence of Customs value of the goods on offer.
However, the politician in question will use his powers and obtain the information to see that his thugs buy up all the items.
This is the first time in the SLPA’s 20-year auction history that Customs values are not mentioned and that the event is taking place on a full moon day, a public holiday.
The items on offer include luxury and non-luxury vehicles, electrical equipment and clothing, ‘Ravaya’ adds
