If anyone says that Airline Industry is in so BAD shape that Budget Airlines cannot survive... I invite them look at Air Asia, the 3rd Biggest Brand in Malaysia...

When Malaysian Airlines (the national carrier) is desperately trying to survive..
Air Asia being a budget Ariline thrives and adding new destinations like picking mangoes!!!

There's nothing wrong with the concept its the... ahem... THE MANAGEMENT!!!

No I'm comparing the concept, if Mihin Air cannot do.. one of these days Air Asia will catch our market, then all the $$$ to Malaysia... like Dialog... hurray!!!

Machan i think u r correct,nw gov strategy is tactful way of thinking bt major problem is the management.
Look @ the way Mr Harry Jayawardhane carried out his businesses.Once Sri Lanka insurance corporation became close to bankrupt and gov privatize SLIC.After Mr Harry took the chairman position nw SLI doing itsz business operations successfully.
Whatz the secret behind this success........THE MANAGEMANT
Anyone cn takeover a company within a day bt if he doesnt hv skilled management team the he wont able to continue the business successfully.

So according to my knowledge Mr Mahinda Rajapaksha would change the MGT and take out his own pinochchios(automata) from the company.

I've flown in it too... the aircraft is OLD it is true, the crew no nice chicks , the food is not nice either and the pilot was some Russian I guess!

But I saved money so I could buy something extra for my family... mine was a short flight from Singapore to CMB so I didn't really care about comfort!

Yup..

SINGAPORE to CMB Oneway [Mihin Air] = S$ 275 (LKR 19600.00)

KL to SINGAPORE = RM 40 [LKR 1200.00]

You'll need to stay in a hotel for a day = S$ 70 [LKR 5100]

Total Cost = Rs. 25900.00


KL to CMB Oneway [Sri Lankan Airlines] = RM 1400+ (LKR 43500.00)

I saved = 43500 - 25900 = LKR 17600.00++

machan I flew Mihin Air to Bangkok, and the flight was not the worse I have been, but bit like Ryan Air... however when we were coming back the flight was at 2:40, and we made it to the Mihin Air counter exactly at 2:00 and they have left the place left us behind because we were five minutes late!!!!!

It would have been OK if they do that to 1 person, but there were 8 of us... and when we were coming it was pretty much us lot in the flight any way...

Because of that we had to go to Singapore thru Thai, and then take Emirates back to Sri Lanka as there were no flights from Bangkok to Colombo for two more weeks....

The weird thing is that most of the air hostress in Mihin Lanka were Eastern European....

May be that's why he burn 3500 million SL rupees for this!
My dear friend Harry took SLIC for a dirty cheap price by Mrs. Chandrika it's another story like Waters' Edge.
SLIC was not profitable but it was not going to bankrupt i now think it was better those days!
