Mr. Edirisuriya was not present even at the re-launching ceremony as he was away on a private visit to the United States. He told Daily Mirror from his home in the US that he had sent his resignation letter to the Ministry of Ports and Civil Aviation on January 10, but he was yet to hear from the Ministry.Asked why he resigned so suddenly, he said he was not willing to reveal such information until the Ministry responded to his letter. He said he found it difficult to work with the Mihin Lanka Chief Executive Officer Kapila Chandrasena and added that he worked hard to acquire an aircraft to resume operations.“It took me two months of hard work to acquire the aircraft,” he said.</blockquote>
