Refreshed exterior
The new exterior of the Outlander PHEV is based on the 'dynamic shield' design philosophy of MMC. The Outlander PHEV versions of the model year 2016 are distinguished by:
The underside of the bumper, front and rear body-color,
"Black chrome" grille at the front,
'Shark fin' antenna on the back of the roof,
New Two Tone 18-inch alloy wheels, specifically for the PHEV. (except Business Edition)

New interior
The interior of the Outlander PHEV has been significantly adapted for a premium look and also differs markedly from the interior of the standard Outlander model year 2016. The following changes are made:
- A new center console that extends to the dashboard and fully closed (with storage compartment with a flap at the front). The high-gloss anthracite color with bright accents the whole has a luxurious look.
- The "shift pattern" appears behind the PHEV drive selector. The display shows only the selected mode in the dashboard (eg. D or R) whereby the display is clearer.
- A new four-spoke steering wheel with steering wheel heating from the Instyle version. In addition, also revised the layout on the steering wheel and is the 'information button (now the left of the steering wheel) is now on the steering wheel.
- The door panels have a 'piano black' finish with a matte chrome line around the panel for window operation.
- Illuminated legroom.
- Custom MMCS navigation; both the controls and the menu structure are adjusted for a more "intuitive" operation.

Comfort Adjustments
The redesigned Outlander PHEV are no fewer than 33 changes have been made in the field of sound insulation and vibration. The main changes are:
- Extra (audio) insulating material,
- Extra insulation seals between the doors,
- Custom tires,
- Custom muffler,
- Custom front spoiler,
- The suspension is adjusted to 11 points, such as, for example, suitable shock absorbers and a modified anti-roll bar at the rear.
- The electric tailgate opens 3.7cm higher, making the total height below the tailgate is 185 cm.
- The tailgate is locked (via the central locking system) and also has finish on the inside.
