I lapped it...

So, no more warranty...heeee!

Yesterday's heatsink lap job wasn't 100% successful I think. When I took out the heatsink, the heatsink compound patch was towards one side of the CPU, and it hadn't covered the whole contact area.

Have to try again.

But this is a video I recorded after lapping

5C less than yesterday. (now 65C tops with Prime95)

Need to redo the HSF. I lapped it with my hand, I mean, not against a perfect surface. But the CPU is as good as it gets. Did it the correct way.

Grit-320, until the all the nickel plating was out, and only copper was seen.
Then Grit-600 for couple of minutes to get rid of most of the swirl marks.
Then Grit-1200 with hardly any pressure, to get the shine.

Shiny = very less swirl marks = better contact.

But no point going for me that grit-1200 as I heard.

I might do it to my HSF, I wanna sell of my CPU soon.. so not a good idea to touch it! Will be hard to find buyers then!!

i would go for 2000 as well, if i had arctic silver or something like that. my crappy paste doesn't do justice to the shine
