Removed all cards (including ram) and all cables from motherboard except the following:

    cpu and cpu fan, fixed.
cpu fan cable connected to mother board.
psu 24pin cable connected to mother board.
psu 4 pin 12v cable connected to mother board.
power on/off switch in case connected to mother board.

on switching on psu, motherboard light comes on.
on pressing on/off switch, cpu fan starts.

    Nothing else happens.
    No beep codes.

Tried with monitor connected and also ram in (in case just on-board beeper faulty, and booting continues to display error).

I assume if it is only a beeper issue, normal booting should continue?
When ram out, there should be a beep error right?

    Nothing.

Tried same psu on a different motherboard. psu is ok.
(But can't swap cpu ram to test as they are different)

Anything else I could try ?
(btw the board is a intel DG101ggc)

    thanks

Tried same psu on a different motherboard. psu is ok.

Btw, just so that others won't get shocked, I think this would be a bad idea to do normally. If the psu were bad, perhaps it could have damaged the other motherboard. :P The motherboard I tested on has some other problems, so it didn't matter in this case :D.

Any ideas for my initial issue please?
(other than try this cpu on another board, or try a compatible cpu on this board)

    thanks

    thanks. Will reset and see.

Machan mageth oya prashne enawa. Ram eka poddak galoola gahuwama wada karanawa. :(

thanks. yeah, contact problems are a bother at times.
But when ram is out, I expect a beep error code (provided on board beeper is working) :(

Btw, what is the best way to clean RAM contact pins if necessary?
The dimm itself, I heard can be cleaned with a rubber eraser carefully.
How about the dimm socket in the mother board? Is there any way to clean other than air blowing or vacuum? Is spraying contact cleaner recommended :oo:?
