Sarath Fonseka’s citizenship has been settled by accepting him as the apolitical Common Candidate by the Commissioner of elections states former Chief Justice Sarath N. de Silva. He further said a person who is not a citizen of Sri Lanka could never come forward as a candidate for the presidential election and such a person would not be named by the Commissioner of Elections as a candidate for such an election. As such, the issue of Gen.
