    Chuck Berry Greatest Hits

    Chuck Berry Greatest Hits

    2vb066a.jpg

Chuck Berry is an influential figure and one of the pioneers of rock and roll music. According to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame’s website, “While no individual can be said to have invented rock and roll, Chuck Berry comes the closest of any single figure to being the one who put all the essential pieces together.” Cub Koda wrote, “Of all the early breakthrough rock & roll artists, none is more important to the development of the music than Chuck Berry. He is its greatest songwriter, the main shaper of its instrumental voice, one of its greatest guitarists, and one of its greatest performers.”[2] John Lennon was more succinct: “If you tried to give rock and roll another name, you might call it ‘Chuck Berry.

    Release info:
    Artist: Guns N’ Roses
    Album : Greatest Hits
    Label : Geffen Records
    Ripped By: Romty
Original Release Date: March 23, 2004

If time is the true test, then Guns N’ Roses’ Greatest Hits confirms that they really were one of the greatest rock & roll bands in the world. While, in retrospect, fellow graduates of the class of 1987 are about as cool as poodle perms and spandex, the L.A. bad boys still rock like gods. Listening to the sun-drenched chords of “Paradise City” and the ensuing stadium-sized swagger is enough to make wearing leather trousers and bandanas seem like a good idea. Of course, it helped that for them sex, drugs, and rock & roll was a way of life, not a fashion statement. As Axl Rose wails “I wanna watch you bleed” on “Welcome to the Jungle” like a chain-smoking lunatic possessed, it’s hard not to believe he meant it. Yet equally, it was his surprisingly poetic nature that made genuinely touching love songs of “Patience” and “Sweet Child of Mine.”

    2. Sweet Child O’ Mine 5:55
    3. Patience 5:56

The Very Best Of Carlos Santana

    51Roixg1fKL._AA240_.jpg

Carlos Augusto Alves Santana (born July 20, 1947) is a Grammy Award-winning Mexican Latin rock musician and guitarist. He became famous in the late 1960s and early 1970s with his band, Santana, which created a highly successful blend of salsa, rock, blues, and jazz fusion. Their sound featured his melodic, blues based guitar lines set against Latin percussion such as timbales and congas. Santana continued to work in these forms over the following decades, and experienced a sudden resurgence of popularity and critical acclaim in the late 1990s. Rolling Stone also named Santana number 15 on their list of the 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time in 2003.Carlos Santana was born in Autlán de Navarro, Jalisco, Mexico, with two brothers and four sisters and a father who was a mariachi violinist. Carlos began playing the violin at five years of age, occasionally performing with his father’s mariachi orchestra. When his family moved to Tijuana when he was nine, he became interested in the guitar, rhythm and blues, rock and roll, and blues music and soon was performing in bands in the Tijuana area. When his family emmigrated to San Francisco, California, thirteen year old Carlos refused to leave, preferring his independence as a working musician. After being convinced to stay in San Francisco with his family, he graduated from Mission High School in 1965.[1] Santana helped the family out by working as a dishwasher and grew to enjoy the San Francisco music scene, often sneaking into legendary music promoter Bill Graham’s Fillmore Auditorium to listen to his favorite musical artists, including Muddy Waters, and The Grateful Dead.

While Best Of may not be inclusive enough for the avid collector because it focuses more on Blondie’s new wave dance hits than on their punk beginnings, songs like “Heart of Glass,” “Dreaming,” “The Tide Is High,” and “Call Me” display the diverse musical styles this band embraced. It’s a new wave album, a reggae album, a dance album, a punk album, and a rap album. Rock-solid songwriting and Debbie Harry’s sultry vocals hold the CD together despite the stylistic reaches of the tracks.

Bon Jovi - Cross Road (Greatest Hits)

    200px-Bon_Jovi_Cross_Road.jpg

While Bon Jovi always managed to stick a couple of killer album tracks on their records, their main strength has always been singles. Cross Road collects all of their biggest hits, adding a couple of new songs and Jon Bon Jovi's solo hit, "Blaze of Glory," for good measure. Even the band's detractors may not be able to resist the constant flow of big guitars, big hooks, and sweet melodies that pour out on Cross Road. After all, this is what state-of-the-art mainstream hard rock was all about in the late '80s.
