batsman Usman Khawaja has taken a significant step towards being Australia's first Muslim Test cricketer, being named in a squad for two Tests against Pakistan in England.
The prolific left-handed batsman, 23, will be Australia's reserve batsman in a 14-man squad for the Tests next month.
Swing bowler Ben Hilfenhaus has been named in the squad after returning from a long break with a knee tendon injury.
Wicketkeeper Brad Haddin (elbow tendon injury) is also there however there remain significant doubts over his fitness - with young gloveman Tim Paine still a good chance of making his Test debut.
"With the Test squad not departing for the UK until late next week it has been decided Brad Haddin will continue his rehabilitation from an elbow tendon injury in Sydney and his availability for these Test matches will be determined over the next week," Australian physio Alex Kountouris said.
