The party has initiated disciplinary inquiries into him for making remarks critical of the government and President Mahinda Rajapaksa.“We cannot remove his SLFP membership that easily. We have now charge sheeted him. We are waiting for his response to the charges made against him. If he is proven guilty, we can remove him from the party as well,” sources said.  In addition, the government has also decided to appoint Ramesh Pathirana, the son of late Minister Richard Pathirana, as the new Akmeemana organizer. Ramesh is a doctor by profession.
