BTW you can configure a DELL Studio XPS 16 with
    • Intel® Core™ 2 Duo P8700 (2.53GHz)
    • Genuine Windows Vista® Home Premium With FREE upgrade to Windows 7
    • 4GB Dual Channel DDR3 SDRAM at 1067MHz
    • BluRay Disc Combo (DVD RW)
    • 15.6 inch WLED LCD (1920x1080) FULL HD Display
    • 500GB 7200 RPM SATA Hard Drive
    • ATI Mobility RADEON™ HD 4670 – 1GB (more than 2x faster than 4570 and 20% faster than NV 9600M GT)
    • With other standard accessories (BT, Wi-Fi, Gigabit Ethernet etc..) for
    • $1,299
IMO that notebook is better value for money.

He better change the Optical Drive and the VGA...But why are suggesting him a lower CPU? To match up with the budget? But now the duos dont conquer the market so its still better for him to go for a i7...what do u think?? this guys gonna study networking...and hes gonna take a loan...that means hes gonna keep this for an year or 2 more...:baffled:he will later get dissapointed for havin a duo...:baffled:

Yes I suggested a lower CPU to match up the budget (he is taking a loan so I though he is bit low on cash). Core i7 is the future I know, but whether spending a huge chunk on the CPU is wise or not really depends on his needs. For gaming there is no question that XPS 16 will practically rape :P that Studio 1557 . But for other stuff, CPU will definitely give an advantage. I too would go with a i7 if I am to upgrade right now, but that is because I don't game on my notebook.

Since he is a student and all, I too recomend the i7, I mean gaming should be his least concern  . And the 15.4 slightly more portable than a 16, but personally I prefer a 14 or smaller.

Guyz, here am nt going to make a huge noise bt IMO Intel ppl r still testing the Core i7 power consumption problem.I hv went through lot of
benchmarks regarding this new processor n itz nt a power friendly proce.
Core 2s n Quads easily beats this in power consumption benchmark.
I always consider power consumption when am going to buy a notebook Cz if there are many features bt high power consumption whtz da point of buying notebook?
Another thing just wait for few months to see the difference with other Core i7 notebooks.Cz if thre is least to compare with this notebook which is in same level, same processor, u cannot make wise decisions.......
