GUI isnt taking much RAM shut off the aero GUI and switch to classic still it eats up about 450mb!!

Meh! Then the only things I have over XP is faster search and superfetch (and security which i don't give a damn about!)

windows do not clear unsed RAM thats the main reason most of the RAM clearing softwares just push the bulk into paging file which will make ur machine even slower ..mem management should be done in any program even tho windows can do it it seems like they are not doing it win xp too uses about 500mb RAM sometimes its not that we dont have enough mem its just that M$ is not allocating resources properly and doesnt maintain its resources

I guess it will free when it needs to do so. No point wasting clock cycles without showing any productivity improvements. It's just not very aggressive, that's all.

I have only two things against Vista, and one of them is common to all Windows editions.
1. Registry!!!
2. I/O prioritization doesn't do the prioritization correctly!!! (when copying a huge file, the system stalls, instead of pausing it for a moment and giving the user's tasks more priority!!!)
