Ex: Central Bank monitors all other banks transactions, if a customer needs to get a loan or apply credit cards other banks can check with each other about the customer's loans payment history or credit card debts and stuff... for verification purposes just to make sure that the customer is not "blacklisted"
That's another advantage for banks when they have a centralized system!
