ouw bung the bugger has a lot of songs.... i heard like in the kanaththe on his gravestone they have like put down all the names of his songs as well which is kinda kool i think.... the funny thing about his songs is that he had a friend who like worked for SLBC or something and he like gave JP all the new songs that came out in india and JP put his own words to the tune..... thats how he has so many songs........ mama owa ekak wath danne na one of my friends told me the whole story

well it's kinda of a myth..... because during the early 80's, there were lots of Jothi bashing going on by the so called " Mistros"...... during the early 80's so many movies came out, and some of them were copies of Indian movies.... Jothi might have sang somewhere around 100 songs that were copys of indian songs.... and the other thing is that, he never wrote his lyrics..... most of his indian songs were written by Hemasiri Halpita..... as far as the rest goes, they were pure Sri Lankan talent.... Karunarathne Abeysekara wrote most of his early songs.... and Ajantha Ranasinghe wrote most of his big hits during the last period of his life..... he was the only singer who can sing any style of a song... and he was mentioned the " best singer that ever lived in Sri Lanka " by Pandith Amaradeva at his funeral, and according to his book, that was released couple of years back... Amaradeva mentions the speech, and still stands by his comments.....

oh ya so true dont get me wrong im not saying that jothi is a fake coz thats not at all wat im saying..... and it is true ppl do make up still things about good singers.... even after there pased off....
