Hey everybody,

I'm comming to sri lanka after 3 years. So, i barely know watz happening rgt now with srilankan network broadband connections. I want to know watz the best and fastest broadband connection available in srilanka?

And um briging some stuff (routers/network accessories/media center/ect..) from NY which has only cat5 or RJ-45 inputs. as i rember last time i left home it was only regular telephone cable dat i plug in to the router. den cat5 genrates from that and it goes to the network card. so i wanna know is there a way that i can use my routers with regular DSL connection(if um right with the fact)?

Thank you.
I'm waiting for a quick replies.

yes, you can use CAT5 and RJ-45 connections in Sri Lanka now. and most of the broadband providers says that they provide for the fastest broadbad in sri lanka but for me of course SLT ADSL is good. anyway check with other replies to the thread and take a decision

Ya bro , right now best connection in here Sri lanka SLT ADSL, this from my research but i don’t know how others going to recommend u SLT ADSL.

Next ur router it will work, but some time u will have problem with some ISP protocol ( sri lanka Eg; VPI/VCI = 8/35) THIS VPI/ VCI NUMBERS not compatible with all ISP modem (which is provided by SLT) . BUT SOME ROUTER HAS OPTION TO customization some other router has limited numbers from specific region which mean that devices can work on that region only. And same time most of the linksys devices work with all country.

now u don’t confuse, u have a option as follows

1 u can by modem + router from SLT

2 if not u can bring ADSL Home gateway (it mean single device but it has a built in modem and router.(one RJ11 connection and 4 port RJ 45 connection)

and I can give u some model numbers of linksys devices

ADSL Gateway with 4-port switch ( AG041)

Wireless - N home modem router (WAG120N) this has a wireless

If not if ur going use SLT MODEM then u can buy just ROUTER.
Model numbers (WRT54G / WRT54GL /WRT160N)

always router has RJ45 port (Ethernet port) and modem has a RJ 11 port (telephone line port )

I hope this will help u to get right device , or if u have any other problem let me know.
