Cross linked cables has the wires crossed at the 2 ends to create an uplink cable. A straight cable doesnt have this. Straight cables are used to connect devices to swtiches/hubs where the hub while cross linked cables are used t connect network devices itself (explaining all this will take a long time).
Simply put, if you get straight cables, you will need a switch or hub to get the connectivity but with a crosslinked cable you can just plug it directly from one PC to another PC without going through a switch or hub.
thanks all of u for valuable advices.
my final decision is buy a network card for my old computer and but a crosslinked cable to connect both of them.
router is useless because i want to use my new computers 500Gb hard.old compuer has only a 10 GB hard disk.
what are the other system resources i can use from my new computer using this?
can i use its Ram?
