Does it matter!

Hey guys I tried this using like 2-3 eithernet cards gives the same problem but NOT EVERY TIME.....

The problem comes sometimes when you switch on the machine it stops loading at the welcome screen. It stays without loading to the desktop for like 10 mins so since i can't wait that long whenever it happens i reset and go to the safe mode and check to see you get this tree under the network adapters like this....

ncow9.jpg

The ones which I have blocked there always comes when this problem comes up so I keep them disabled all the time coz i realised it didnt affect the system and if you re-enable them they "disappear"......

The one circled in red has to be disabled as well in order to load to the desktop after restarting from the safemode. So when it comes to the normal desktop again you have re-enable (coz it looks obvious that relates to the network card and then only data get transfered anyway) and it will disappear as well....

I know its kinda strange problem.......but if you guys have any idea about this and how to stop this from happening time to time please post your comments....

thanx.... :D :D

Initially just try to remove, clean and fix back the ethernet cards.

How many network adapters you have?

EDIT:

Initially how did you figured out that the problem is being caused by those adapters..?

So far I've used 4 adapters, 2 Intels and 1 D-link separate cards and the present one is a Realtek onboard one.

Well this happend when I tried to plug-in an ethernet card for the very 1st time to my earlier Intel D865PERL mobo and it got stuck at the welcome screen. So obviously I got a hunch that it could be due to the network card I just plugged in 'coz thats the only change I made to the cpu that day and so it was when I checked the device manager from the safe mode and the tree looked similar to the one above (only the Realtek part was different).

i think your system is crashed. try reinstalling windows.

Well machan this had been there since a year ago and now i'm on a different mobo called ASRock P4i65G (it has an onboard ethernet adapter) coz the ealier one (Intel 865Perl) had problems with the RAM slots and had to replace it. Anyway upto now I've re-installed windows like 3 TIMES with 2 different windows xp pro SP2 installation cds.

No machan its not a server just a normal desktop pc I use plugged to my ADSL router in addition to my laptop.

Ok what are the network services you are talking about? How do I check whether any other service had got activated in addition to the normal LAN service I use to plug my ADSL router for the net?

Just swap the ports and test whether the prolem is in the card or in the slot (port)

Then machang do the needfull.. I mean change the faulty card or the port... Something is wrong I guess...

Or else a driver conflict.

Tried that as well by swapping into all the slots in both mobos.

Well can the same problem come in 3 separate cards I bought from 3 different places?

If there's a driver conflict how do I solve that??

normally..
those WAN miniport are used in ADSL modems...
that are connected through a usb port..
so if you had a one before uninstall it first...
and desable any features like Wake on LAN, Boot from LAN,
and did try by booting pc in safe mode and uninstalling those things..?

No machan the ADSL router (USR) is connected through a normal network cable.

Yes I always try to uninstall any plug-in devices for that matter before removing.

Wake on LAN is not there but boot from LAN is disabled (checked in the bios setup)....

Yup I tried doing that in safe mode but it says can't in safe mode but I did that in the normal mode but they all came back when it got stuck again after a few days.

Definitely there is a driver issue here. Uninstall everything. Including Network Adapter drivers and ADSL Router/Modem drivers. Disable the onboard LAN too. Now goto device manager in SAFEMODE and see the list of network adapters. If u still see those adapters uninstall them. Now restart the PC and goto the bios enable fail-safe defaults and activate the on-board LAN. Dont use an internal PCI card coz u already have a LAN onboard. Then connect two computers and check the connectivity..restart few more times and see how it works..if everything goes smoothly connect the ADSL router to the network. Since it is using the Ethernet port..i dont think you will need to install any drivers to make it work. And also make sure that there are no conflicts in the device manager.

Yes..use a plug n play device driver deleting tool to remove them if they still appear after even uninstalling

Goto network connections..right click on your LAN Adapters connection..goto properties.

In that window theres a group of checkboxes..See if theres any unwanted services selected..
by default Client For Microsoft Networks, File nd Printer Sharing, QoS packet scheduling and TCP/IP should be selected. Remove if theres anything extra.

Thanx for the suggestion machan but I'm unable to do those things right now but will give it a try later when I get a chance.

Ok these 4 are been checked

Client For Microsoft Networks
File nd Printer Sharing
QoS packet scheduling
TCP/IP

BUT there's this other one which says NETWORK MONITOR DRIVER and its been checked as well

Should I uncheck that?? Are you sure it won't affect the smooth functioning of the adapter? If it doesn't I'll uncheck that..... :D
