So obviously I got a hunch that it could be due to the network card I just plugged in 'coz thats the only change I made to the cpu that day and so it was when I checked the device manager from the safe mode and the tree looked similar to the one above (only the Realtek part was different).Well machan this had been there since a year ago and now i'm on a different mobo called ASRock P4i65G (it has an onboard ethernet adapter) coz the ealier one (Intel 865Perl) had problems with the RAM slots and had to replace it. Anyway upto now I've re-installed windows like 3 TIMES with 2 different windows xp pro SP2 installation cds. No machan its not a server just a normal desktop pc I use plugged to my ADSL router in addition to my laptop.Ok what are the network services you are talking about? <img src="/styles/default/xenforo/smilies/default/confused.gif"  class="smilie" loading="lazy" alt=":confused:" title="Confused    :confused:" data-shortname=":confused:" /> How do I check whether any other service had got activated in addition to the normal LAN service I use to plug my ADSL router for the net? </blockquote>
