Coins are much more expensive to produce. Sri Lankan coins disappear to India then to Bangladesh as shaving blades. Because Sri Lankan people take coins abroad and donate to charity in Buddhist and Hindu temples. It is cheaper to melt coins into shaving blades. Since coins are cheaper than iron.
