Following the assassination of pro-L.T.T.E. T.N.A. MP Mr. Nadarajah Raviraj in Borella at around 8:00am Friday morning, a shadowy Tamil anti-L.T.T.E. group based in Batticaloa calling themselves the "Seerum Padai" or "Agressive Army" has claimed responsiblity in a statement posted on a Tamil language website www.neruppu.com. It is also believed that this group was also responsible for the assassination of pro-L.T.T.E. MP Mr. Joseph Pararajasingham on December 25th last year. "Seerum Padai" has warned that if the T.N.A. parliamentarians do not abandon their pro-L.T.T.E. stand they would be "dubbed as traitors" and "eliminated" just as Mr. Raviraj was. Mr. Raviraj was a "traitor" who was killed to "awaken the Tamil people" and it further stated that the "T.N.A. MP's had no right to to live under the security provided by the Sri Lankan Government, while upholding the cause of the LTTE, completely ignoring the sufferings of the Tamil people". It has also warned other pro-L.T.T.E. T.N.A. MP's that they would be assassinated as traitors if they did not abandon their pro-L.T.T.E. stance.

I don't condone terrorism but at least this group is kind of helping us a bit. However I must say that regardless of his political views Mr. Raviraj was a good man and his death is a great loss to the people.

He was an educated person regardless of his political views. The T.N.A. although supportive of the Tigers in public have no choice since they do so out of fear for their lives and families. If the Seerum Padai assassinated hardcore L.T.T.E. leaders then it would have been of use but to do this to a civilian politician is unacceptable.
