First of all, my internet connection is 512k ADSL. I tested them in an WinXP virtual machine. The times were measured from a stopwatch.

I tested two files. Here are they.
1. AnyDVD 1.22MB
http://static.slysoft.com/SetupAnyDVD.exe

2. ATI Catalyst 7.1 driver only. 12,522kB (12.22MB)
https://a248.e.akamai.net/f/674/9206/0/www2.ati.com/drivers/7-1_xp_dd_40211.exe

Here are the results:

For AnyDVD,
IDM took 27.32 seconds
FG took 41 seconds
(IDM is clearly faster)

For ATI driver,
IDM took 4 minutes 9 seconds
FG took 5 minutes 2 seconds
