The World Food Program (WFP) has increased its assistance by 3.288 billion rupees (US dollars 28.59 million) to continue the resettlement of the Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) under the Protracted Relief and Recovery Operation.
The increase was to provide relief and rehabilitation for IDPs in the north and also to continue providing assistance to the resettled persons until they are able to resume their normal livelihood in the war torn regions where supportive infrastructure is being provided.
The WFP has continued to assist the government with its resettlement process and the allocation for the current year with the increase provided is now US Dollars 134.45 million (over 6 billion rupees), Daily News reported.
