There will be no elections for Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) and the present interim committee will continue to function according to SLC chairman Somchandra de Silva.
He added that the Supreme Court has not given an order to conduct an election.
"There will not be any election taking place for SLC. It was wrongly interpreted in the media about the so-called election. We have been asked to present our case in the court on July 6 and accordingly we will do the needful in the matter", de Silva said yesterday.
The likelihood of an election to pick officials for the SLC democratically was speculated following as recent Supreme Court order for the SLC and a petitioner in a case to come to an understanding to hold elections for SLC.
The president of a local club United Southern Sports Club, Asoka Mendis had filed this fundamental rights petition on behalf of clubs who had not been able to elect officials to SLC.
SLC had not had elections since 2004 and was run by interim committees appointed by the sports minister.
