(upamaa)It corresponds to the wide distribution of animals including human. Basically it tells that due to floods and other natural causes, animal and humans travelled and populated all around the earth. Which is a scientifically proven fact and the timing of the events corresponds well as well. Pre historically human kind including animals were isolated in a very few continents. (Well there were no continents as such - there was only land and sea. no divisions like the current world). Continents were created by natural causes including tsunamis, floods, heavy rains etc. And the people were distributed among and throughout those continents as a result. And also it happened on a tribe by tribe basis. Which is what you call the 'ark'.
