Message: <blockquote data-quote="ironbutcher_x" data-source="post: 5281318" data-attributes="member: 213076">yeah i noticed that too. so far there is no solution but i came up with a temporary fix. limit to 2-4 map scrolling when u click the vehicle icon to display map for that whole area. time it to like 1  scroll  every 5 secs. as for map details, put it to the lowest setting u can find, that helps when its drawing the map. then it should be ok. but for marking points on the go, it wont work for long. also, when entering data in and u want to add the name with a -, u usually press the * +  button on left bottom (under the number 7) on the screen, and that pulls up a detailed button, once in there, u cant revert to previous screen. only way is to turn off phone and back on. solution there is pressing the number 1 repeatedly until u get the desired marker where a , . - etc. better disabled predictive text when entering text in garmin so pressing . brings up all characters one by one... then re enabled predictive text.as to why garmin crashes is due to a the 5800 design. garmin was designed for numberpad phones, and 5800 is virtual more or less. it works fine on E71, no crashes what so ever. and disable background service inside settings, it does nothing, if not helps in crashing the app in 5800.these tips only for Nokia 5800 with the use of garmin mobile xt (all versions).\also a another trick i found is if u have 3g enabled on a phone, the battery drains faster. technically 3g is for data, even though it shows as 3g, u cant make a call on 3g, unless its a VOIP call, so enabling gsm only in network section doubles/triples the battery life. as to when to use 3g, when u really want to use 3g, enable it then and there and turn it off afterwards. especially useful when out of colombo, as 3g coverage is twitchy, so it keeps on searching for 3g signal thus draining the battery faster. this is with wifi on by the way ok.. the assumption that wifi drains the battery is dismissal when compared to 3g signal battery drainage.</blockquote>
