O/L: Top performers still not known The Examinations Department is in a quandary in releasing details of students who excelled at the G.C.E. O/L examination at national level due to its inability to hold the rescheduled maths examination for students in Mullaitivu and Kilinochchi districts. Examinations Commissioner General Anura Edirisinghe said the maths paper of the G.C.E. (O/L) examination was cancelled due to several mistakes in the question paper and a fresh exam was held on January 24. He said the department was not able to hold this special examination in Mullaitivu and Kilinochchi districts and this delayed the issuing of the complete analysis of the students' performance at the G.C.E. Examination. "We have already released results of students who sat for the G.C.E O/L examination under the new syllabus and results of the students who sat for the examination under the old syllabus will be released within the next few days." The Department expects to hold the examination in these districts soon after the situation returns to normal.
