NSync to reunite at MTV Video Music Awards for special performance
The group - which also included Justin Timberlake, Lance Bass, JC Chasez and Chris Kirkpatrick – are set to reunite at the MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday.
They will be on hand to celebrate Justin being presented with the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award for his contributions to the music industry.
Joseph Fatone Sr told RadarOnline: 'They’re doing a performance. I think it’s exciting.
'I couldn’t even say why he’s doing it though. Why, at this point in his life. Now he’s his own man.
'But it’s more to the fact that MTV has made them all somewhat of stars, and also made Justin a star.'
However, Joseph admitted he doesn't know the exact details, adding: 'I don’t even know what has gone into this performance… I plead the fifth.

Ahead of their reunion, Justin's former bandmates, with the exception of JC, were seen together in the VIP area at his Legends of the Summer concert with Jay Z in Miami last week, where they joined his wife, Jessica Biel, and mother, Lynn Harless.
NSync launched in 1995 and enjoyed worldwide success at the height of their fame between 1998 and 2002, including a string of hits such as Tearin' Up My Heart, It's Gonna Be Me and Girlfriend.
At the pinnacle of their success, the teen heartthrobs - who were created by Backstreet Boys manager Lou Pearlman - sold a staggering one million copies of their album No Strings Attached in a single day.
The group quietly went on a hiatus in 2002 but never reunited while that same year, Justin began his successful solo career with debut album, Justified.

The 'N Sync account, verified a few hours after the tweet was posted, adds fuel to the fire that Justin Timberlake, J.C. The setting would be appropriate, as Timberlake -- who was announced as one of the VMA performers earlier this month -- is also set to receive the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award, the VMAs' version of a lifetime achievement award. This year, Jimmy Fallon will present Timberlake with the honor.
During a recent SiriusXM radio show Dirty Pop With Lance Bass, Bass neither confirmed nor denied the 'N Sync reunion, only explaining how the rumor spread on the Internet like wildfire.
"It's amazing to see the reaction out there on Twitter and social media [and] how many people are supporting 'N Sync," he said. "It's so nice to see because when we ended things [over] 10 years ago, there was no social media, there was no Twitter, but it's so cute to see how many people are supporting [us], and 'N Sync was even trending."
In a 2012 visit to The Hollywood Reporter video lounge, Chasez — then a judge on MTV's America's Best Dance Crew — explained why a 'N Sync reunion was likely not going to happen. “It’s just not in the cards,” he told THR at the time. “I’m sure that everybody in my group has been asked at one time or another -- I know I get asked, I know the other guys get asked -- but we’re happy with what it was and we’re happy to move on.”
