Open Source vs Propreitory

Guys i Need some help in terms of your opinion this is the thing...

What would an organization do if an open source software becomes proprietary? My question is quite plain but very hard to get an answer to. Recently SugarCRM got acquired by IBM and it became proprietary. What did organizations that were using SugarCRM do? In the event that any open source becomes proprietary, how would a medium scale organization prepare for it?

Machanz, generally, we have to evaluate the company before using their products
Sometimes, we can predict if they will become proprietary or not in the next few years

But in other cases, even if a product stops being open source,
it typically only applies to future purchases, and not for continued usage.

I think as SugarCRM became popular it was acquired as profit could be made.
Now, you cannot use the community edition right? If you can, keep on using it while looking out for alternatives.

But in most cases, there is nothing we can do.
Life is a කුහක and කුරීරු beast.
Open source does not guarantee lifetime open-sourceness.
