Message: <blockquote data-quote="lkdood" data-source="post: 7495502" data-attributes="member: 92282">Floods caused by the torrential rains lashing  the southwestern areas of the island for the past few days have affected  over 260,000 people in Sri Lanka, national Disaster Management Center  said.    According to the figures released today by the Disaster Management  Center 6,332 families had been affected by floods in the Kalutara  district while 27,691 families were affected in the Gampaha District. In  Colombo district 20,504 families have been affected. Ratnapura,  Kegalle, Kurunegala, and Puttalam districts have also been affected by  the floods to a lesser extent, the DMC reported.    The Secretary of the Ministry of Disaster Management S.A. Mohammed  said that two persons were killed, three were disappeared, and six were  injured in accidents related to the rains.    The DMC said relief is being distributed the affected areas. Sri  Lanka Navy has provided 9 motor boats, 6 boats in Gampaha and 3 in  Colombo districts for relief services as most of the roads remain  inundated.    Sri Lanka government says it will provide an allowance for the  victims of the floods. The Minister of Disaster Management A.H.M. Fowzie  said that the government had allocated over eight million rupees to  provide relief to the flood and landslide affected people.    A family of five is provided Rs. 525 while a family of one person is  provided Rs. 245. Rs. 50,000 is paid for the repair of a damaged house  while Rs. 25,000 is paid for a half-damaged house, a spokesman of the  Ministry said.CP</blockquote>
