Gampaha District parliamentarian and well known actress, Upeksha Swarnamali also known as Pabha, had on the 15th night called the News Director of Derana TV, Shehan Baranage on his mobile phone and shouted at him in filth.
When Lanka News Web inquired about the incident from Baranage, he said he was still in shock at the ugly and filthy manner in which Pabha had shouted at him. He said that although he had disconnected the line thinking she was shouting under the influence of liquor, she had continue to call him back and shout at him in filth.
Baranage said that she had used filth that could not be used in the media and that after first shouting at him in English, she had started to shout in low grade Sinhala filth.
Baranage said that Pabha was angered at the TV station for telecasting a previous Derana 360 programme of her recently. However, he said the repeat telecast was due to the failure of the Minister who was expected to participate in the programme to come for the shooting and the station had to therefore use a programme from the archives that was popular as the most recent programmes were not ready for a repeat telecast.
