Hey,
I am a UPS freak.. I have bought like four UPS's now. Anyway, I bought the Panora UPS because people said its good. But then when I loaded the software they gave with the CD which is used to monitor the UPS I found the e-mail functions don't work (they are virtually dummy functions I guess). Into further findings I found that the real designer of the UPS is Remio (http://www.remio-ups.com/english/index.php). And http://www.remio-ups.com/english/products_series.php?cid=5&sid=10 convinced me that the statement "The product is made with Sri Lankan Expertise" is false. Aleast they should have imported the UPS in the colorful case. I'd really want that
I thought Panora was a Sri Lankan product... I think they are importing it. And in the box of it, it says Made in Proc there is no country called Proc.
Also the processor of the UPS (although its a line interactive UPS) identifies the UPS as a off-line (Standby) UPS which is why it uses a different protocol for the COM port communication (so the Winpower software won't support it).
Either PC house made a really bad choice when they decided on the UPS model or they wanted to do a cheap job.
Also! The PowerPlus Software that is given with the Panora UPS is owned by Remio so there are no two questions about the real owner of the UPS model. And thanks to PC house now I have to run my Sunpac UPS for the data cable and the Panora for the Backup. My power bill topped off to Rs. 7500 thanks to that. Now I'm off hunting for another good UPS where the data cable feature is working.
Thanks.
