The government today raised the question whether the US applies the same standards which they expect from Sri Lanka on other countries.
The reaction came from the External Affairs Minister G.L.Peiris in response to the US State Department spokespersons comments saying that the LLRC report does not fully address all the allegations of serious human rights violations that occurred in the final phase of the conflict and leaves questions about accountability.
Minister Peiris said that the government also does not accept that accountability issue had been left open.
Minister peiris said that the the spokesperson had concentrated on the final stages of the war, but the Sri Lankan government wishes to question as to why there should be focus only on the final stages of the conflict.
