For example, Version 3  was in April this year. CI was not built / developed with the intention to beat Laravel, YII or Symfony  frameworks, and I don't think they will ever want to do that. They built CI because they  wanted some lightweight framework with a smaller footprint. That's why  CI is a good choice if you want to build a medium size website. No one asks you to use CI for your every project <img src="/styles/default/xenforo/smilies/default/D.gif"  class="smilie" loading="lazy" alt=":D" title="Big grin    :D" data-shortname=":D" /> It's something you've to decide whether CI has the capacity to cater your requirements in the long run. I don't see any good reason to use Laravel to build a medium size website when CI can do that for you. Laravel has it's advantage when you work on large scale projects.There's no canonical framework <img src="/styles/default/xenforo/smilies/default/D.gif"  class="smilie" loading="lazy" alt=":D" title="Big grin    :D" data-shortname=":D" /></blockquote>
