Los Angeles Wildfire
Southern California's largest wildfire continued to grow overnight and now has burned more than 190 square miles in the Angeles National Forest northeast of Los Angeles.
U.S. Forest Service Cmdr. Mike Dietrich says the blaze scorched nearly 122,000 acres of brush and timber by Tuesday morning. It has destroyed 53 homes and is threatening at least 12,000 more in communities ranging from Sunland on the western front of the fire to Acton on the northeast.
Shane Rollman of the U.S. Forest Service says crews plan to set backfires Tuesday to protect Sunland and try to halt the fire's northeastern spread by using bulldozers to carve eight miles of firebreak near Acton.
