I am still using poco f1 without any issue. Now it's close to 3 years. Snapdragon 845 never gets old. But now I consider upgrading because I would like to taste how AMOLED display feels like.

By the way did you paid custom clearance charges?

Hahaha, I also had the same curiosity. Previously, I used the Xiaomi Mi 5 for almost four years and I wanted to experience an AMOLED for a change (on the other hand, Mi 5 had started giving display related issues - all due to my negligence though).

Yes, I paid the customs clearance fees and I placed the order on AliExpress with DHL shipping. During the process, we have to obtain the TRCSL permission ourselves, and for some folks, they have had to obtain an Import Control License (ICL) as well. At the time I bought the phone, the TRCSL clearance request could be made online and AFAIK, obtaining the ICL was also a fairly easy task. I highly recommend you to contact DHL for more information. When I ordered mine, I didn't have to visit any of the government or DHL offices, as DHL facilitated the document delivery as well.

However, there was a delay from DHL as they had seemingly misplaced my documents and it took more than a month for them to eventually deliver the phone to me (the phone landed LKA on 02nd November 2020 and I received the phone only on 07th December 2020). Since DHL handles the clearance process on behalf of you, the customs officer opens your phone packaging in front of the DHL agents and that obviously breaks the seal of the packaging :( Therefore, when you accept the final parcel, make sure that all the accessories along with the mobile phone, are available inside the box.

Should you need any more details, please let me know. Good luck!

Ado thanks for the comprehensive information. Looks like better to wait till someone selling this phone inside the country. DHL will add extra cost to the final cost will be the overflow mid-range price tag. Once again thanks in advance.

I don't think that the phone will be sold here due to the TRCSL's rule of having to register devices with them. The actions of TRCSL, has effectively limited the gray market imports and it kind of forces us to buy phones coming only through the official channels. It is good in a way (protects the innocent people from scammers who sell used/refurbished devices with fake packaging), but it limits the chances of people like us who like to go the extra mile for testing/using devices which are not readily available in the country.

If we do handle the importation process ourselves though, TRCSL allows us to register the device and it permits us to use the device in LKA networks. Registration is a simple task and if you buy a gray-imported device from LKA, there's a chance of it becoming unusable in Sri Lanka (as stated by TRCSL) because the device has bypassed the TRCSL verification/registration process.

I'm not sure whether they allow you to register devices bought from local gray-markets.

Also, adding the DHL fee does not exceed the prices as much as you may think. For me, it cost about Rs. 12,000 additionally for the device (including the customs fees).

Then I consider buying one of these. Thanks, bro. I will keep updating here.
