Two suspects have been arrested in connection to the mob attack on a clothing store in Pepiliyana, a suburb of Colombo, last night, SP Siriwardena told Ceylon Today Online.
The store was attacked last night by a mob, as a result of an employee of the store being alleged of raping a girl in the vicinity. The Police stepped up security as additional police riot squads were being brought to the scene as well.
SP Siriwardena stated that the owner of the clothing store has stated that the accused was not his employee, while the accused was an employee of a Motor vehicle store a few blocks away.
SP Siriwardena also added that no individual has the right to form a mob or attack anyone.
