The police are hunting for a man who is alleged to have raped a Swiss woman inside a room at a hotel in Habaraduwa in the Galle District earlier today, officials said.
Police said that the suspect was known and it was a matter of time that he would be apprehended.
Habaraduwa police are conducting further investigations.
The incident is the second such incident involving a foreign woman.
Yesterday in Mihinatale two local guides were taken into custody after they allegedly attempted to rape a married woman from New Zealand.
The woman was saved with the timely intervention of her husband who was descending the Mihintale Rock at that time.
