Officials with the Criminal Investigation department (CID) said that a large number of fake Rs. 1000 and 5000 notes had already been recovered and more would be netted in as the investigations continue.
The gang led by a woman had cashed the dud notes in the Dehiwala-Galkissa and Wellawatte areas over the past several months.
High-tech equipment such as computers, laptops and other material used in the printing the dud notes were also seized by police.
