Most people wouldn't laugh at you for making a mistake, and the few who may laugh... who cares? but getting better in a language comes with practice, whether that's grammar, speaking or increasing your vocabulary.so reading is a must in my opinion, read good books as as often as you can. Watching movies or tv can be a good learning source too as it may expose you to more words and idioms that you normally wouldn't come across in everyday life.
