Ministers and parliamentarians are to get a windfall next year in the shape of another salary increase as the government has undertaken to increase the salaries of judicial officers through the 2009 budget as salaries of judges and lawmakers are combined through a parliamentary resolution a senior parliamentary source said.
Salaries and Cadres Commission Chairman Lionel Fernando said, the government had given an assurance to the Supreme Court that a salary increase was possible for judicial officers through the 2009 budget. The vote on this budget is fixed for December 8.
