Because if SLFP contested as a single party they still have chance to get more seats than UNP. If mahinda comes back party probably split in to two and UNP may have more seats as a single party. So SLFP my3 supporters join with UNP and formed a government again Ranil will be the PM since they have more seats. If SLFP stood alone made a win without mahinda, there will be a PM from SLFP.
