This is really a sad situation. We all know this is his last world cup.. He has done a lot to Sri Lanka Cricket.. Selectors cud have given him at least one or two games.. All other players including Banda and Kulasekara all got their chance but not Marvan.

In yesterdays game and the games prior to that we could certainly see that Tharanga is not in any kind of form! He simply cant place the ball in the Gaps..

If Marvan was goin to be included it was certainly for the opening spot. Now that there is no more games prior to the Semis I dont think he will get any chance to play in this tournament. You can't simply put a player into a WC semi without having played any match practice..

What do you think guys? Does he deserve this?

He should have played in that AUS match, in that match it was so evident that SL needed that extra batsman!!!!

I thought theyll replace Tharanga, not even yesterdays match. May be they should put him to bat in the semis. Lets hope he'll bat well better than Tharanga

I dnt think they'll play both marvan and arnold in the same lineup... since sanga is also out of form..

i think what they are saying is....like...if they drop tharanga and take marvan then deff he'll have to open... but facing the aussie seamers and shane bond after being out for 6 months isn't pretty easy..so they are continuing with sanath and upul

and if marven played against the Irish it would be considered as a "pin chance" coz playing a man who has played 260+ ODI's only for the Irish match would be a tragedy for a player of marvan caliber

Its not from the Irish match he should have been included..much earlier than that.. You think Tharanga in this form can handle Aussie and NZ seamers better than Marvan?? .. Noway.. Marvi is a very orthodox n techy player.. he can handle them much better and his experience would have been an added bonus for the team.. Bt now its too late..

its a tricky situatuion, cos tharanga is out of form and it would be good to have marvan, a big - match player, to play in the semi and the finals, but, at the same time, he has not played a SINGLE match in this WC, so you really cant expect him to suddenly produce a hundred in the semis, so its gonna be a tricky situation, but you cant discount a match for marvan in the semis cos mahela did mention that they would think about taking marvan, which means that he could be in the scheme of things for the match against New Zealand!
