The Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) has warned that they might be compelled to interrupt the power supply in the Kelaniya and Colombo North areas if it continues to rain through the next few hours.
A CEB Spokesman said that the rain water has begun seeping into one of the CEB sub stations and if this continues they will have to interrupt the power supply in the Kelaniya and Colombo north areas.
Meanwhile the Spokesperson added that there was an interruption of electricity in the Horana, Homagama, Kesbawa, Piliyandala, Ja-ela, Ragama, Kelaniya and Awisawella areas since yesterday.
However all steps are being taken to restore the power in these areas as soon as possible.
The interruption of electricity in Negombo, Moneragala and Kandy was restored yesterday, the Spokesperson added.
